The purpose of the Island of Pain and Pleasure is to establish and maintain a safe haven for the exploration and enjoyment of all forms of BDSM (bondage, disciplin, sadism, masochism) and D/s(dominance/submission). The Isle, as we call it for short, mainly consists of two major places. One being where you are right now, 'The Isle Resource Centers main hall' where you can find information, pictures, stories, links to other BDSM sites, and more. The other part of The Isle is the chat site where we live our real virtual BDSM lives online.

The Isle Chat

The chat rooms are built as an island with six different districts. From the mountain district of the north to the more exotic and hot beach district of the south. For more information about the various district please go to the links below for each district.

In all the different district you may find chat rooms designed for general scening as well as more specific theme rooms such as the transgender/transsexual room, the bearplay room (for non consensual scenes) or the baths (where relaxation and flirting is more usual then the sound of whips and chains). The Isle main corkboard is where you can ask questions, leave messages and/or read/reply to posts left by others. The chat rooms are html rooms which means they're slower then for example IRC or AOL chat rooms but much more beautiful since they allow backgrounds and pictures to add to the imagination and magic. If you're familiar with basic html commands such as the 'I' tag for italic text you may use it and others to express your writing style further. It is our goal and intention to make this VT place as close to RT as possible. Unlike VT elsewhere, where BDSM and D/s is practiced primarily in private clubs and basements, we hope to explore, enjoy, and show others that BDSM and D/s is and can be practiced any place, any time in RT. If you have RT experience, you know D/s can be enjoyed 24/7 without spending even one hour in a basement or BDSM Club. While we often use 'online names/handles' instead of our real names and sometimes engage in BDSM 'roleplaying' sessions, The Isle is NOT a RPG (roleplay-game) site. Nor is it a fiction world (as for example the gorean chatsites).

The Isle is a slice of everday life at the planet Earth and we who dwell here are the same people as we are in our RT daily lives, except maybe for the fact that we here can live out, to the fullest, what many can't in their real lives, namely BDSM and D/s

We who started the isle are a bunch of people coming online from various places around the world such as Sydney, New York, Helsingborg, San Fransisco and Washington DC. We're between 21 and 46. Both males and females. Both dominants and submissives. Some very experienced in the club scene, some with only limited experience from private encounters. What we all have together is a passion for the imaginative way one can share, learn and teach of this lifestyle by using the technology provided by the internet. We are protectors of 'online scening in public' and we wish to continue the tradition of beautifully expressed BDSM and D/s we learned to love when we first discovered online BDSM chatrooms during the 90's. We all have been, or are, engaged in long-term relationships containing BDSM and D/s, some which have moved over to become real life relationships, some which we maintain as VT relationships through meeting here ..at home ..on The Isle.
